THE Misericordia MUSEUM

The new Misericordia Museum is located on the top floor of the Headquarters. It collects and displays the works of art that have been donated by the citizens of Florence over the centuries to support the association and tells the long history of Misericordia, from the past to the present. Combined with the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, it welcomes thousands of visitors from all over the world each year.

Duration of the project?

March 2023 to November 2023

What are the tasks of the volunteer?

  • guiding visitors, individuals or groups, through the museum tour by explaining the works and artifacts present and narrating the history of Misericordia;
  • welcoming and supervising visitors;
  • translating and updating information materials;

When do the activities take place and where?

  • Monday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at Misericordia di Firenze Headquarters, Piazza del Duomo 19/20 50122 Florence

What are the requirements to participate?

Minimum age:
To participate in the program, you must be at least 18 years old on the start date of the program.

Time commitment:
A minimum of one day a week for 3 hours.

Language knowledge:
An elementary Italian language level is required.

Required documents:
A resume, cover letter and medical certificate are required

Is there any cost to participate?

Misericordia requests a contribution of €25.

Other important information?

Participants will be trained and supported by a Museum Tutor, and will be provided with all the necessary materials for studying the history and works of art present.
